Contributions to the History of Photography

in Austria

The continuous scholarly study and evaluation of the collection’s holdings are among the pre-eminent research tasks of the Photographic Collection’s curators. The individual scholarly projects subsequently manifest themselves in the form of exhibitions and their accompanying catalogues. Beyond that, the publication of the series of books entitled Contributions to the History of Photography in Austria, which covers individual photographer personalities and theme-based issues and questions, serves to present the research findings concerning the collection within a more thoroughly detailed framework.

This series of books, edited for the Photographic Collection of the Albertina by Monika Faber comprises five volumes to date. Two titles also being available in English. Books published in German only are listed in the German version of this website.
