The continuous scholarly study and evaluation of the collections holdings are among the pre-eminent research tasks of the Photographic Collections curators. The individual scholarly projects subsequently manifest themselves in the form of exhibitions and their accompanying catalogues. Beyond that, the publication of the series of books entitled Contributions to the History of Photography in Austria, which covers individual photographer personalities and theme-based issues and questions, serves to present the research findings concerning the collection within a more thoroughly detailed framework.
