Collecting, preserving and covering data are central tasks of all museum work. At the Albertina, the primary point of departure and programmatic focus of all research activity are its extensive collections.

Study Hall
Researchers and art connoisseurs alike can take a look into the Albertinas holdings at the Study Hall. Terminals leading
to the museums general and pictorial databases and to the library serve to facilitate and enhance the most exacting
research effort.
Library
A substantial library, comprising specialist titles on art history, as well as journals and auction catalogues, further supports
the scholarly work of the house and is available to all interested members of the public as a reference library.

Online catalogue of the library
All books, periodicals, newspapers, and audiovisual media can be researched via the online catalogue of the library.

The Albertinas Picture Database
The Picture Database of the Albertina Museum presents the main works
of the Graphic Arts, Photographic and Architectural Collections.
The historic archives of the Poster Collection are to be found online in their entirety. This database allow for a quick orientation
about the museums extensive holdings.

Biobibliography on photography in Austria
This database contains biographical and bibliographical data relating to persons, institutions and companies who were or are,
at least temporarily, active within the geographic confines of todays Austria, engaging or having engaged in photography.
Restoration
The central task at the museum is the comprehensive conservatorial care and attention that is to be given to the collection
objects. The working methods employed by the restorers are fully in accordance with the latest standards of technical and
scientific advances in their field.
