THE ALBERTINA’S ARCHITECTURAL COLLECTION


With about 15,000 listed objects and an estimated nearly 35,000 further works on paper, the architectural collection represents a substantial part of the overall number of exhibits held by the Albertina. The collection of architectural drawings ranks among the most important special features of the house, not just for its large quantity, but also for its high quality.

THE HISTORY OF THE ARCHITECTURAL COLLECTION AND ITS HOLDINGS

The Architectural Collection comprises about 50,000 plans, sketches and scale models. Drawings by architects with illustrious names, such as Francesco Borromini, Johann Bernhard Fischer von Erlach, Otto Wagner, Adolf Loos, Clemens Holzmeister and Friedrich Kiesler form the core of this superb collection.
