At the beginning of May, 2007 the collection of Rita and Herbert Batliner, comprising some 500 works of art, was presented to the Albertina Museum on a permanent loan basis.
With works by such masters as Claude Monet, Pierre-Auguste Renoir, Paul Cézanne, Marc Chagall, Pablo Picasso, Amedeo Modigliani, Henri Matisse, Wassily Kandinsky, Sam Francis, Mark Rothko, Roy Lichtenstein and including Francis Bacon, the Batliner Collection ranks as one the most significant private collections existing in Europe.
