DONATED WITH LOVE

During a joint tour of the exhibition, the students examine, among other things, the pointed figures and expressive faces of cartoonist Saul Steinberg. The focus is on visual language, exaggeration, and the effect of humor.

In the subsequent 30-minute studio session, the young people develop their own masks based on the artist's model. The practical work is deepened in the 60-minute workshop: using scissors and glue, they create a collaged mask that focuses on design, expression, and personal ideas.

Program

Reduction and strong impact: The tour focuses on Pop Art with two of its most influential representatives—Alex Katz and Roy Lichtenstein. While Katz works with clear contours and flat painting, Lichtenstein relies on comic aesthetics, halftone dots, and visual exaggeration. Together, their works open up exciting approaches to questions of surface and depth, staging, mass culture, and artistic strategy.

In the subsequent studio session, the students transfer central principles of Pop Art into their own practice: in a 30-minute format, they create a concentrated landscape collage from construction paper that works with surface and composition. The 60-minute workshop deepens the exploration of portraiture—inspired by the striking colors and formal clarity, the young people develop independent, expressive visual solutions.
