DONATED WITH LOVE
Donations are particularly important for a museum: they bring new works of art into the collection, expanding it and making it more diverse. They often bring something unexpected into the museum—works that surprise and open up new perspectives. This keeps the collection alive and exciting.
The exhibition Donated with Love shows special donations from recent years—from Roy Lichtenstein and Sean Scully to Julie Mehretu and Conny Maier. This show, marking the 250th anniversary of the ALBERTINA, impressively demonstrates how such contributions keep a collection alive and constantly evolving.
Program
What is there to discover in such a large museum? Together, we will explore this question and examine not only impressive paintings, but also the idea of collecting itself. The children will consider: What can you actually collect—besides paintings? And why is this important for a museum?
In the 30-minute workshop, the students become curators themselves and design their own exhibition hall. The 60-minute workshop is particularly creative: using stamps they have made themselves out of foam rubber, the children create their own works and learn in a playful way how art is created and presented.
