Pride Month 2026
In June, ALBERTINA celebrates Pride Month and affirms its commitment to the fundamental human right of freely expressing one’s sexual orientation and gender identity. With the Intersex-Inclusive Pride Flag by Valentino Vecchietti—displayed both on the grand staircase of the ALBERTINA and in monumental form outside ALBERTINA MODERN—the museum once again sends a strong message in support of LGBTQIA+ visibility, inclusion, and equality.
Over time, the Pride flag has developed its own history, undergoing several adaptations and expansions. The Intersex-Inclusive Pride Flag, designed in 2021 by intersex activist Valentino Vecchietti, builds on the 2017 Progress Flag by Daniel Quasar. This updated design expands the flag’s symbolism to enhance visibility and recognition for diverse LGBTQIA+ communities, with particular emphasis on intersex individuals, trans people, and people of color.
